Zorana Baković: Sexuality and (self)censorship of artists in China

The lecture will present ambivalence in the Chinese tradition and art related to sexuality, especially homosexuality. At the same time, it will address the issue of censorship and self-censorship among Chinese and foreign artists today.
Zorana Baković is known to the general public for her insightful and spiritually full writing about Asia in the newspaper Delo, for which she has been writing since l. 1986. She studied Chinese classical literature in Shanghai, was, among other things, a translator for the federal government, and most recently became a journalist. She is also the author of a collection of essays Flight over the Dragon’s Nest (Let nad zmajevim gnezdom). She lived in Beijing until 2011 and now lives between Vienna, Zagreb and Belgrade.
