Covers – Participation as an Aesthetic and Political Gesture
Workshop at Škuc Gallery, Ljubljana
7 – 9 December 2025
Sunday from 10 pm until 2 pm
Monday – Wednesday from 14 am until 7 pm

___________

The artist duo Lundstrom & Bro – comprising Naja Lundstrøm and Cilja Bro – work at the intersection of art and social practice. Their practice explores how everyday materials can carry stories and lived experiences, and how art can emerge as a collective act.

Their ongoing work Covers consists of around one hundred donated duvet covers collected from LGBTQ+ people around the world. These covers are being sewn together into a monumental textile installation that, in December 2025, will envelop the walls of Škuc Gallery in Ljubljana, stretching over more than one hundred metres in length and four metres in height, to form a soft, bodily architecture.

During the workshop at Škuc Gallery, participants can engage in many ways – cutting, pinning, sewing, or taking part in decisions about how the covers are composed and how the overall aesthetic expression should unfold.

No experience with sewing is needed; the process is open and supported by the artists and local collaborators, who will guide the participants throughout the day.

Please bring your own cover if you would like to donate, so we can incorporate it during the workshop. We also accept donations.

The workshop is both an open studio and a meeting place. Here, one can be more than a spectator – one becomes a co-creator. Everyone who believes in equal rights, is curious, or simply wishes to take part in a collective artistic gesture is warmly welcome to join.
