The research is a continuation of last year’s Partly Clear project by artists Neža Knez, Vida Guzmić and occasional collaborator Lara Reichmann. So far, the artists have focused on amateur sky observation, the study of cloud atlases and related literature. They have visited meteorological stations and experts in the field, recorded audio-visual material, taken part in weather balloon launches, researched the history of meteorological rockets and much more. This time, the artists will focus on the beginnings of sky observation and its “mapping”, which historically started with painting, followed by photography, and later the introduction of symbols – gradually being replaced by modern technologies for “reading” the sky, such as digital mapping and artificial intelligence.

The exhibition will take place as a temporary studio featuring Zagreb-based artists. Luana Lojić, Neža Knez, Nika Pećarina, nominis, Tin Dožić and Vida Guzmić will be exchanging weekly at Škuc Gallery, organising public events (workshops, discussions, group dinners) that foster connections with the local art scene and the public. These events aim to support reflective and collective impulses that counteract the hyper-individualisation and hyper-production of contemporary art and society in general.
